Welcome to Restorative Resources Santa Cruz

Based on the Restorative Justice model, Restorative Resources Santa Cruz (RRSC) supports groups to function at their highest levels by integration of practices that build trust and teamwork and resolution of conflicts in ways that strengthen the group.  In a world that often resorts to resentment, blame, and reprimands, Restorative Resources offers non-punitive processes to create environments where trust and understanding are valued and fostered.

Restorative Resources includes the following:

Restorative Practices for K-12 and Higher Education

The fundamental principle of Restorative Practices is simple:  human beings are happier and more likely to make positive change in their behavior when those in positions of authority support all involved in a conflict to speak, be heard, and take mutually agreed upon actions.  In educational settings, Restorative Practices strengthen community by providing the opportunity for students, teachers, administrators, and parents to proactively build relationships within and across these groups and problem solve when conflicts arise.  When addressing conflict, everyone involved plays an active role in the resolution process.

Restorative Circles For Businesses, Families, Non-Profits, Congregations

The purpose of a Restorative Circle is to use the conflict inevitable in most groups as an opportunity to foster the understanding and trust needed for the group to successfully accomplish the work it was created to do.  Restorative Circles are utilized in groups that value self-responsibility and desire to reach the group’s highest potential.  A Circle is a non-punitive dialogue among those affected by an action or event.  Everyone in the circle comes voluntarily, is knowledgeable about the process, shares responsibility for it, and has ample opportunity for their perspective to be understood and to understand the perspectives of others.  From this mutual understanding, agreements are created.  Restorative Circles are based on a model developed by Dominic Barter (www.restorativecircles.org).
